Since we decided to file about four months ago we haven’t been making payments on anything except our mortgage and two vehicles that we are keeping.
We thought it would be a huge relief and we’d have SO much more money.
We were wrong.
Yes, some bad spending habits got us into this over the last 10 years. But since then wages simply have NOT kept up with the cost of living.
Even with both of our incomes increasing 3-4% each year, our housing expenses decreasing by downsizing, and cutting out everything we can, we are still literally paycheck to paycheck.
It just want to say that it fucking sucks for two people to work full-time professional jobs and still have to check their bank account before putting gas in their car.
I just want to encourage you that it’s not a moral failure to be in a bad financial situation these days and that you’re not alone.
As someone who works for a national lender, I can tell you firsthand that the VAST majority of Americans are in debt up to their eyeballs but would never admit it to anyone they know.
For us personally we’re just waiting until the day our kid starts kindergarten and that will finally give us A LOT of our money back into our pockets to save again… only 4 more years 😫
