Thought I’d post my Chapter 7 timeline to be helpful to others.
September 2025 – Started talks with an attorney. Decided to move into an apartment per their advice prior to filing.
November-December 2025 – Got all the paperwork together/bk course taken. This took more time than I anticipated.
December 24, 2025 – Filed. I was a nervous wreck but knew something needed to change.
Jan 21, 2026 – 341 Zoom meeting. No creditors showed up and the trustee asked me approximately 10 questions. It was a non-event. I freaked out for nothing.
Jan 25, 2026 – Trustee issues a report of no distribution. Basically I have no money to pay.
Mar 23, 2026 – Last day for creditors to object.
March 25, 2026 – Happy discharge to me! I applied for a Capital One Platinum for work travel and was shocked I was approved for $4,000.
All in all a very simple process. I’m so happy to not be on the hook for $1500/month in payments. If you are on the fence, do it. So much less scary than I thought.
Edited to add: Chapter 7 – also my credit was in the low 700s when I filed without any missed payments
