So my chapter 7 discharge was officially ordered last month. I applied for my first credit card today, through credit karma. I thought i would need a secured card but I was approved for a capital one savor card with a $5000 limit. I honestly was shocked.
I do make good money. I filed while I had a long 1 year stint of unemployment that year due to medical reasons, and got a job that honestly I would not qualify for chapter 7 now right after. My credit used to be 800 before that year so my overall credit after discharge is 660. So I had a long secure credit history prior. Im just shocked that I could get something unsecured so soon. Time to start building back up!
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted after a year that had so many trials. Between medical and credit cards I had 90k discharged. Im so hopeful for the next few years. I hope everyone in this forum has an easy process and has the opportunity to start fresh again. 🥰
