Hoping others can provide some intel on this.
I surrendered my vehicle in my bankruptcy, currently awaiting lender to pick it up but no longer operating it. Had my 341 meeting early March now just awaiting discharge.
I had planned on just keeping my remote job to avoid any need for a vehicle as I live in a very walkable area of LA. But, I got hired for a job (and very grateful for the extra money to help me build a savings account) that I’m able to work around my remote job schedule. At first, taking public transit didn’t seem so terrible but, I’m on week four and, it’s hell.
I don’t mind public transit at all. I do however, mind it at 330am in a very bad part of Hollywood, especially as a female. I can’t afford to uber/lyft and I did the math, if I did uber or Lyft four times a week to and from my part time job, in one month that’s about $350. That’s $350 out of my paychecks I’d rather not lose.
However, worrying about getting jumped, assaulted, or worse for the entire two hour ride home, is starting to wear me down. Anyone have experience with getting small personal loans to purchase a vehicle post chapter 7? I was trying to make it to the fall so I could have a decent savings account and buy a $2k beater car for cash.
But the thought of everything that could happen to me trying to get to/from work is stressing me out.
