We spoke with an attorney last month and decided best course was to wait till September due to a bonus I get later this month from work. We just stopped paying creditors and have all calls going to voicemail but the nonstop voicemails/emails/texts are annoying.
Since the beginning of this year holy hell it is just nonstop issues. First car broke down which I saw coming that the attorney helped and said how much to put down so I can get something now and be able to keep after discharge. Then our water heater broke and flooded the garage luckily it was sloped a little so only minor damage. Now not even 2 weeks later I hear a noise in the attic I call out pest control and rats in the attic every company I’ve spoken with it’s over $1500. Just waiting for the bonus and tax return to cover the attorney fees. I guess I should just be thankful it’s happening before filing vs after but it has been a wild 2026 so far hoping by the end of the year this is all past our family and we can start in a much better position for 2027.
