For example, auto lenders. Yes, as a consumer, we are accountable for signing the paperwork and accepting whatever terms. But, people, like myself, can be stupid and let their emotions get the better of themselves. Always make an excuse to justify going through with it.
However, to even offer ridiculous terms where monthly payments are in the 4 digits, ridiculously high interest rates, is, at best, stupid and irresponsible on their part. No matter how much a borrower may make, income changes happen, economy can be unpredictable, etc and no matter what, to think it is a good idea to even offer such terms just doesn’t make sense. There should be some accountability on their part and if anything, held to a higher standard given their role – they should know better.
