I’ve been lurking in this sub for over a year waiting for my time to come.
My petition was finally filed today after over a year and a half of trying to scrape together the money for an attorney I had previously retained, who initially wanted ~$3,500 for my CH 7. I eventually had to bail on that attorney, because the fees just weren’t doable for me anymore. I contemplated and began the process of attempting to file pro se, but I got too overwhelmed. Last week I found a different attorney with fees under $1k. We’ve spent the week gathering and reviewing the documents, I signed off on them, and just got an email that my case has been officially filed.
I am so relieved, and excited for this process to go through the motions, and finally get to the other side of this, be debt free, and keep it that way (or at least have a much healthier relationship with debt.)
I’ve spent majority of my adult life in some form of debt or another, and I’m so excited to begin the new chapter of my life without all this weighing me down. I’m going to sleep harder than my freeloading cats that don’t pay rent.
I know these posts are pretty frequent here, but needed to get it off my chest, thank you to this community for giving me hope and keeping me sane while I waded through the mud to get to this point. ❤️
