I was searching timelines all over the internet for chapter 7. Some people were saying 6 months, some said 3 months, some were saying almost over half a year. I called my attorney the second week of May. Got them all the paperwork and completed the class the following Friday. They filed on the 26th and told me the 341 meeting is on the first of July.
I’m incredibly thankful. I have a final interview for two pretty good jobs on Monday and the other on Thursday. I’ve never been so excited to be debt free.
For the first time ever, I can get a check, make my car and insurance payment, pay rent and utilities, and not have to worry about making sure my second check can cover all my minimum payments(LCOL state). If I can go back to making $65,000 a year, I’ll have $1,200 left over each month since I split bills with my girlfriend.
That means I can breathe, save for retirement, save for an emergency fund, pay off my car early, actually treat my girlfriend to vacations and dinners and flowers. I just want my girl to have flowers for the first time in our relationship since we moved in together. It’s been nothing but an empty fridge and empty gas tanks and borrowing money to pay bills because my minimum payments were around $2500 a month.
I can finally breathe.
