One of the things I learned in a free consult with a bankruptcy attorney was to open a new checking account to prevent a set-off (as my previous checking account was with a bank that also issued one of my credit cards). I did so and emptied out old my checking account to move everything over to the new one. However, because I obviously no longer meet the minimum balance requirements to avoid the service fee, my old checking account (which had a $0 balance) is now overdrawn a few dollars because of said monthly service fee. Do I need to take any action?
