It’s been 60 days after my 341 meeting. I received a call today from my lawyer with bad news. Because of my high income household, my case was dismissed. I’m obviously upset about this especially since before filing my lawyer crunched some numbers in a way that I passed the means test. I asked what my options were and he mentioned chapter 13 or to settle my accounts. I cannot settle as I don’t have the funds. It looks like I’ll have to do chapter 13. The payments seem so high to me though. He estimated $2850 monthly. Now this chapter 7 dismissal will stay on my record for 10 years.
For reference:
160K salary and 2 person household. My partner makes similar, but not filing. I take home about $3950 biweekly after taxes.
Personal loans : $4000 monthly (120k total)
Mortgage: $4000 monthly
401K Loan: $1300 (15k total)
IRS and State: $1150 (43k total)
Total: $10,450 monthly
