Had a rent lawsuit against me. Filed for ch7. Court says lawsuit is still open. When does the automatic stay go into effect?

I had a lawsuit for rent recoupment served against me. I filed for a chapter 7 bankruptcy on 10/22 and the hearing is on the 11th for the lawsuit. When I checked the court the lawsuit is being held in, it still listed the suit as open. Do I have to inform the court or will they realize it right before it happens? I’m a little confused.
