Consulted with an attorney regarding chapter 13 bankruptcy. Gave all my debts and he ran the numbers over the phone and gave me a ball park figure of $2800 a month, which will pay off all federal and state taxes owed and other debts. We did not discuss my income or ability to repay this $2800 a month. My income has dropped significantly in the last 3 months, but I’m waiting to start a new job pending clearing the background check. Is that normal to not ask for my income? Will these numbers be finalized when I officially hire the attorney and pay him?
