I want to share what’s happening to me in case someone has gone through something similar or can offer advice.

After my Chapter 7 341 meeting, my bank accounts were placed on HOLD (frozen). The account with the most money is the one that had my tax refund, and that money was never touched because I intended to return it if the trustee requested it.

The problem is that this same account is where we receive our salaries and pay all our bills (mortgage, food, etc.), so right now we don’t have access to our money for basic expenses.

On top of that, today I noticed a transaction labeled “COAL” on my account, as if money was taken out. I called the bank and they gave me a phone number that belongs to a bankruptcy law office, but it is not my attorney, which worries me even more.

This all came as a surprise because my 341 meeting went well, and I didn’t expect my accounts to be frozen or to see transactions like this.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

Is it normal to have a HOLD, a “COAL” transaction, and a different attorney showing up?

How did you manage to pay your bills while your account was frozen?

Any advice or shared experience would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Also, I wanted to add that when I called Chase, they told me the HOLD on my account was placed due to a court order, and they provided me with a phone number for a bankruptcy law office connected to it. The problem is that this law firm is not my attorney, which makes the situation even more confusing and concerning.

If anyone has experienced something similar or knows why another attorney would be involved, I would really appreciate your insight 🙏
