My wife and I are filing bankruptcy and the ring that I proposed to her with was appraised at 10k, but it is her grandmother’s ring. We are two days out from our meeting of creditors and we spoke to our attorney and they have just now told us that that ring might be up for grabs. All other assets we have are safe apparently. Has anyone been in a similar situation and been forced to give a family heirloom away? Or were you able to keep it. It was probably the one thing we were actually hoping to save out of everything. Nothing we own is worth more than $1000 besides our cars.
