This group has been envaulable during my chapter 7 so I wanted to share my weird 341 meeting incase someone else comes looking for answers. The trustee basically grilled me about my previous marriage that ended 15 years ago.
Details:
Married filing seperate from my spouse as he is my second marriage and my debt was my own from before our marriage.
We squeezed into a 7 as we are pretty much at the top of the income requirments. (This might have something to do with the weird trustee questions)
Family of 5 but two of the dependents are my husbands and one is mine. But we are in a comunity property state so still a family of 5.
Total debt included medical and cc = totaled $123,000
341 meeting:
The trustee was older and moved very slow. He took close to 20 mins to review my case.
He kept questioning my current marriage and apparently my name change confused him, very odd.
He then kept asking when I was married and when my current husband lived with me. It was in the same year so that confused him. And then asked for my parents names which I found very odd as I do not have any debt with them and they are not mentioned in any of my paperwork.
He then asked about my previous marriage that ended over 15 years ago. This caught me off guard as I was not expeting to be asked about my previous marriage since it was so long ago. When he asked the date I was divorced and I only could give him the year cus honestly it was so long ago I blocked it out of my memory, he got very mad I only knew the year.
He asked what my ex husband does for work. I said I don’t know I havent talked to him in 15 years. Very strange.
He asked that my lawyer submit my divorce decree from 15 years ago which even suprised my lawyer, she said they never ask for old information like that.
He then asked about my current husbands job and when I told him a BNSF Conductor. He asked what does he conduct, and I said trains for BNSF. This confused him, I don’t know why, maybe hes not familiar with trains which I find hard to belive.
Anyways, my point being you can never be too prepared for your meeting and not all trustees are the same in how they review your case. He never once asked me about any of my debt and why I was filing. He seemed more intrested in my ex and current husband. I know the vast majority only ask yes and no questions and they are done in 5 mins or less. This grilling of information that had nothing to do with my case was weird.
The good news is its behind me and hopefully I will be discharged in 2 months!
