As my title suggests, after flirting with the idea of filing bankruptcy for the past two years, I finally filed today! Now on to wait for the 341 meeting. As an educator in Florida, although many of us know teachers are underpaid, I didn’t quite qualify for Ch. 7 so it was a matter of waiting for the perfect storm to happen. Unfortunately this past year, I had some months of unemployment, plus unemployment in the summer and had my car repoed. Since my car had equity, I would’ve been a Ch. 13, but the repo pushed me to a Ch. 7. I feel relieved and feel a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Now on to a fresh start and better money-managing skills. Definitely looking forward to not receiving any more calls from creditors.
