Hello all,

I just filed chapter 13 because our income is over the median. We make about 167K. I had no choice but to file because of dumb decisions made out of panic and fear. Two lawsuits and a potential vehicle repossession. I know what we did wrong, and I want to fix it. There is no way we’d get out of debt without chapter 13, we’d be paying for 10 years.

My post is really more emotional than factual. I’m struggling really hard with the reality of the absolute mess I’ve made of my family’s lives for the next 5 years. Missing out on activities, vacations, other things. My wife is struggling too with what our two kids are going to miss out on in a very important time of their lives (early to mid teen years). I know we just started and I know it will be tough. I’m just hoping that once a few months go by we will get in a groove and used to our new reality.

Anyone else that went through chapter 13 have any advice or suggestions on what we can do or make it easier and less oppressive feeling?
