My boyfriend filed for bankruptcy, chapter 7, earlier this year and I will be getting a 50k settlement soon that I would like to use as a down payment. I did not file for bankruptcy because I have good credit and the only debt I have is my new vehicle. I am a stay at home mom and my boyfriend is a diesel mechanic, so he makes all of the money. I really want to buy a house for 230k that is available now, but I’m not sure if I can because he makes all of the money, but filed for bankruptcy
