Hi, all! I live in NE Ohio, and would like to share my bankruptcy journey as I go through this process.
I am in the worst possible financial point in my life at just 22 years old, and that is the exact reason I am filing.
I had my consultation with the lawyer via phone call on 9/30/26, and completed all required documents/information the same day. My total to pay the lawyer is a flat $2,199. I have set up a payment plan with him which should be fully paid by mid-November, then I can get this filed, which it will be a Chapter 7.
I am not currently working on a W-2 employment at this time. I am on a 1099 (self-employment) as an independent contracted delivery driver for various companies including Amazon and Walmart.
I lost my job back in late May of this year, and it has been extremely difficult finding work. I became so unmotivated with the job search that after a month and a half of not knowing what to do, I just started doing the gig work I previously mentioned, and I’m actually making a decent amount of more money (still under the within the threshold).
Now, for my current debt situation, here’s where I’m at:
• Total amount of debt as of 10/2/26 – $100,137.89 • This includes credit card and medical debt, 3 auto loans, student debt, and others (collections and a payday loan).
• Recent pending judgment on a defaulted auto loan (which is included into the amount of debt) that was voluntarily repossessed around early-mid 2025 of last year.
• Current auto loan is 3 months past due, reason being the job loss I mentioned.
If you have questions, feel free to ask! I’d be more than happy to explain further why my amount of debt is so high, and anything else!
I can’t wait for this to get started, I am so beat down everyday from all this debt. Excited to continue sharing my journey as well, and join along with you guys! 🙂
