Just had my 341 and omg. My attorney called me beforehand to let me know my case was already approved and would be discharged in February. I got on my 341 and he was late and unfortunately I was due to be first, so I had to wait. A few surprisingly eventful cases happened which got me super nervous because the trustee was grilling them 😬 I won’t say too much to respect their privacy, but one person got caught lying and was already being disrespectful with their answers. When he circled back to me, my attorney asked me a series of questions, I remained super levelheaded and answered “yes sir, no sir.” The trustee then said no further questions, dismissed me, and wished me a debt free life.
I truly cannot believe it. I’m in shock. Respect gets you a long way. I could visibly see my trustee’s relief set in when I was nowhere near the train wreck that happened before me. I just knew I was going to be grilled when my attorney was late and I was on the verge of tears. The trustee actually communicated annoyance with the situations happening a few times, and even scheduled a continuance for someone before me. I just can’t even put into words how much lighter I feel.
As someone who hasn’t been making payments for almost two years due to circumstance I wanted to post and give others hope. Last year I was told I was going to have to file Chapter 13. I started preparing then found out I was pregnant. I decided to wait till baby was born to see if I could squeak by the means test for Chapter 7. I moved during this time and ended up just barely qualifying by $300 (new county has higher limits than previous) after previously withdrawing from my 401k earlier in the year when baby was born and needing 6 months to go by. I had hundreds of thousands of debt, and just knew I was going to have to answer for it. Unfortunately I still have private and federal student loans as well as tax debt, but I will take that over my previous situation.
I just wanted to give others hope. I have been a nervous wreck, but this could not come at a better time.
Shoutout to Mr. Alan, and everyone who has been forthcoming and helpful in this sub. I would have never been able to correctly prepare without all of your help.
