Looking to see if anyone has dealt with something similar.
I’ve been divorced since 2021. My ex recently filed Chapter 7 and now four of my longtime credit card accounts (20 years +) were suddenly closed even though:
I was NOT part of the bankruptcy
My SSN was not used
My name was not listed as a debtor
these were accounts I had years before the marriage
both accounts had perfect payment history and $0 balances
The creditor basically connected me as some type of “co-debtor” because we previously lived together in Washington State, even though we’ve been divorced for years.
I’ve already disputed it, filed CFPB complaints, mailed certified letters, and included my divorce decree.
Has anyone successfully fought something like this or gotten accounts reinstated? I’m honestly shocked this can even happen.
