I filed chapter 7 on 3/25/2026 and had my 341 hearing 4/28/2026 for roughly 28k of credit card debit. I also had a car loan that I chose to keep since I was current on payments and have a low monthly payment. I received my discharge today (in michigan) without any issues on 7/19/2026. My only regret is not doing this sooner. I lived with so much guilt and shame about all of this for months for no reason. I didn’t tell a single person about my filing so it feels good to put it all behind me and start changing my relationship with money. For the first time in 15+ years I have some money saved up and my credit score increased to 620 today after the discharge. I plan to get a secured card in the next few weeks if anyone has any secured card recs? Sadly I burned quite a few companies in my filing (Chase, citi, cap 1, US bank, discover, Bank of America, Comenity) so I’m not sure who to get the secured card with. Cheers to a new beginning and very thankful for all the advice that this group has to offer.
