After about 2 years of contemplating (wasting time and money), I have finally convinced my brain that its ok to file. In over 20 years, I have NEVER had a late payment on any credit card, any bill..anything. May be a few days late but not the 30 day late hit. Anyway, my wife lost her income in 2020 and that have caused us some burden. Now with my income being the only one, we had to use credit cards to survive. I am sure I wasnt the only one. Well paying those cards over the last 6 years have made no progress. Interest rates went up so minimum payments increase blah blah blah. You know the story. Its the same for almost all of us. Anyway, I finally got a free consultation with a lawyer and he laid out exactly what we need to do. I took a few days, thought it over…felt guilty because for the first time, I will stop paying all my cards and will be late. Its a weird feeling for us. But I have finally decided that this is what we have to do to get our life back.
