26 years old, starting building my credit at 19, had a 720+ score no late payments ever, over 20 open credit cards, have a mortgage around 300k which I reaffirmed, 2025 vehicle lease which I am keeping but they didn’t reaffirm, and around 100k in unsecured debt. Filed June 10th, 341 meeting July 8th, just received my discharge yesterday on Sep 10th.
Very easy process, I paid the cheapest lawyer I could find which was $899 one time fee. Honestly all the lawyers that charge 3k are overpriced because it really wasn’t difficult or a lot of work. And making payments on it is silly, you’re trying to get out of debt you don’t want an extra bill for a whole year.
Won’t get into my personal life or what lead to this but I had over a dozen late payments on my report as well as some chargeoffs. Nothing in collections yet but it was heading to that stage as I had debt collectors reaching out. My income was lower and there was no way for me to ever get caught up.
A couple weeks after filing most of the creditors started closing my accounts and deleting them from my report entirely, so my score quickly went back up from mid 400’s to low 600’s with all of the late payments and high utilization gone. Very satisfied with the whole process and I would recommend it to anyone in a similar situation that doesn’t have any other options.
